San Francisco, California
Yahoo’s new San Francisco office is more than just a workplace—it’s a bold investment in collaboration, culture, community, and sustainability. Designed to reflect the agility of the tech industry, the space combines breathtaking top-floor views with thoughtful design to inspire creativity and meaningful connections. Sustainability was a key focus, with eco-friendly practices integrated throughout the redesign to reduce environmental impact. The goals were clear: to energize employees, foster teamwork, and create a space where coming to the office feels purposeful, engaging, and highly productive.
With a focus on accessibility, sustainability, and local engagement, Yahoo consolidated its footprint into a transit-friendly location in San Francisco. The new space was designed around the concept of neighborhoods, offering teams designated areas that support their unique work styles while reinforcing Yahoo’s identity through custom design and strategic furniture solutions.
“We want people to come into the office to collaborate, work with their teams, and partner across departments. The interconnectivity that was lost during COVID was a key driver for this project.”
– Dwaine Streater, Yahoo
The primary objectives for the client centered on creating an inclusive, efficient, and collaborative workspace that aligns with Yahoo's innovative culture and diverse workforce needs. These objectives were:
Yahoo’s commitment to sustainability was woven into every aspect of the project. By partnering with Unisource Solutions, Yahoo prioritized reuse and responsible sourcing to minimize environmental impact. The design incorporated a blend of new and existing furniture, reusing 15% of the total floor plan, including Haworth walls, task chairs, and breakroom tables. This strategic approach not only aligned with Yahoo’s sustainability goals but also demonstrated how thoughtful workplace design can balance aesthetics, function, and environmental responsibility.
This project redefines the modern workplace, transforming it into a dynamic space where employees can discover, connect, and collaborate. The design team worked closely with Yahoo to develop a workplace that not only met the functional needs of their teams but also reflected the brand’s personality. “Bringing our brand to life in a big way, especially in San Francisco, was important. The reception desk does exactly that—right when you walk in, the LED lighting pops, the logo is right there, and it welcomes you with a statement.” says Dwaine Streater from Yahoo.
Platform by Unisource Solutions, Unisource’s in-house custom furniture division, played a crucial role in shaping this environment, delivering bespoke pieces that seamlessly blend brand identity with workplace functionality.

We carefully balanced openness and privacy by using strategic screening and zoning to create an open, inviting atmosphere while maintaining focused work areas. To meet modern tech needs, we seamlessly integrated power and data solutions into furniture and meeting spaces. Additionally, we designed adaptable spaces that promote collaboration, supporting both in-person teamwork and seamless remote connectivity.
