A Campus Gateway Built for Modern Learning

Los Angeles Valley College's new Academic Complex 1 is an 81,000-square-foot, three-story educational hub designed to serve as the southern gateway to campus. Developed in collaboration with the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), QDG Architects, and Unisource Solutions, the building redefines how students learn, connect, and engage

Project Priorities

LACCD needed a furniture solution that could support diverse learning modalities across 24 classrooms, 6 computer labs, 4 flex classrooms, a skills-testing classroom, and a large lecture hall, all while meeting the building's LEED Silver certification goals.

Our Approach

  • Long-Term Partnership: Senior Account Manager Stephanie Johns has worked closely with LACCD since 2011, serving as an extension of their team to ensure furniture solutions align with each campus's unique needs.

  • Integrated Design: Unisource partnered with QDG Architects from project inception, ensuring Haworth's solutions complemented the architectural vision and supported active, flexible learning.

  • Sustainable Specification: Haworth's product offerings align with the building's LEED Silver goals, reflecting LACCD's commitment to creating spaces that serve students today and for generations to come.

The Result

Scheduled for completion in Spring 2026, Academic Complex 1 sets a new standard for educational environments at LAVC, signaling the college's investment in exceptional spaces for students and the broader Valley Glen community.
